The authors use Bordieu’s constructivist sociological perspective to question the social reproduction of the presupposition of family love in the Colombian context. They examine three of the constitutive elements that define family love: the univocal and colonial position that fuses heteronormativity and family love; the accentuated inequality between a father’s love and a mother’s love; and family love that involves possession of the children. The authors conclude by questioning their inflexible reasoning that defines family love and propose the right of mothers to legally recognize her children.
